As everyone should now know from the in game news feature (yay!), Community Day is taking place this Saturday, 18 January 11am-2pm local time.

In addition to the information provided there, Reddit's very excellent Orange Wizard has expanded on it and once again made infographics to sum up what we can expect.

Worth noting, there were initially reports that Dark Detectors would have more high level or WoWW spawns than usual; those rumours have since been discredited, but they will last twice as long as usual.

How to prepare:

* This CD is all about Foundables, so it will help greatly if you stock up on energy going into it, or if you're playing in an inn rich area.

* Remember to take a battery pack along if you'll be playing for any length of time.

* Dark Detectors have been souped up for the event and will last an hour. Consider using Tonic For Trace Detection while you're camped at an inn using Dark Detectors to increase your chances of encountering those Willows. Remember both TFTD and DD spawn every three minutes. (Also DD spawn disappear after *three* minutes, TFTD spawn last fifteen minutes.) If you've got an indoor inn, this might be a good way to stay warm.

* In terms of severe / high spawn per DD, you are better off placing single DDs than triple DDs, but it takes longer obviously. If you can find a spot with access to more than one inn for placing DDs, that's the way to capitalise on that fact. If you want more severe / high foundables for the time you spend out there, triple DDs are the way to go.

* You won't be able to use more than three (sets of) Dark Detectors (unless playing multiple inns), but if you want to extend some of the effects of the event, you can use your last set of DDs right before the end of the event to get an extra hour of play out of things. What counts here is when they are started. If you place your last DD at 1:58, say, you can play until 2:58.

* And as long as you have both DD and TFTD going, maybe use a Baruffio’s as well.

* If you're close to prestiging either the Hogwarts Gate or King’s Cross Station Wonders of the Wizarding World page (lol) and are still missing Fortress foundables, use those runestones when you do your fortress challenges in advance so you can prestige the page during the CD.

* Although the Wonders of the Wizarding World Encounters will be less likely to depart, they can still depart. If you really need a Foundable for the tasks or your registry, you may want to use a Dawdle Draught; those are now guaranteed to succeed.

* Make sure your cauldron is empty at the start of the event so you can take advantage of reduced brewing times.

* You may want to hold off brewing too many Exstimulo Potions going into the event as they'll brew much faster during. (Using Masters Notes Gestures, in 1/4 of the time.) But you will need at least one Potent Exstimulo going into the event. You'll need to use two during the event to complete the tasks, but they're giving us the ingredients for one, and you can brew that during the event if you'd like.

* Prioritise Exstimulo ingredients in your vaults.

* Remember that you can queue up to four Exstimulo potions in the regular and rental cauldrons each to brew after the event to take advantage of the reduced brewing times, but that the Master Notes Gestures will only apply to the first potion, and only if done while the event is still on. Still, that's half the brewing time for the remaining three (or six) potions.

(More on that if you want to know how it's done... For the rental cauldron, the full day's rental at 90 gold isn't worth it because you can only queue four potions. If you prefer Potents, use the 8 hour cauldron, if you prefer Regulars use the 3 hour cauldron. Completing the time with a Baruffio’s means they work out reasonably close in price per brewing hour. (1 vs. 2/3 gold per hour. Compared to the 1 gold you normally spend every ten minutes of brewing time, that's not a bad deal at all.)

Maths!

The very best value for money is renting the 3 hour, queuing a Potent (MN 1hr48min) and a Regular (MN 46min) and a Baruffio’s which is 15 gold for 22 hours of brewing. But if you're trying to stockpile, you could go with the 8 hour rental for 35 gold, queue three potent Exstimulos using the Master Notes on the first during the event and on the other two in a timely fashion and then still have enough time to queue a Baruffio’s for a total of 36 hours of normal brewing time worth of potions.)

If you do nothing else, try to queue some Exstimulos and remember to pick up the freebies. Good luck and, if applicable, try to stay warm. ❤️

Hoping signal will be better at work like it was today. My playing has almost completely halted because almost all data service has been low to non-existent at work for most of the week.

It's bad enough that home, while it has signal, has no spawns at all. Sigh. So I've been in a major slump.
