Part 2 of the New Marauders Brilliant Event Starts Today

Our lovely OrangeWizard is apparently a bit poorly atm (if I had any clue how to show support, I’d pass it along) but ProfessorKitana has stepped up and made an infographic for the event. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS ANOTHER SHORTENED EVENT WITH AN UNUSAL START TIME. (One guess who didn’t finish last week’s brilliant event because 1) the servers went DOWN the evening before (while I had TFTD and BBE and very little free time, no words for how annoyed I am retroactively) and 2) I didn’t notice the damn thing ended early. (/salty)



To speed up the runestone collection in task 2, DO NOT VISIT THE EVENTS PAGE before you reach task 2. Remember the game now forces you to do so whenever you could theoretically place an image. That means PLACE ALL IMAGES ON THE EVENTS PAGE NOW or LET ANY OF THE 19/20 or 20/20 foundables pass. It’s up to you to figure out which approach will cost you more EventXP and XP.

For Task 1:
* If you don’t have a lot of ingredients spawning where you are, freeing up a slot in your portkey vault by using an unlocked portkey will trigger more to appear.
* Queue TFTDs, remember not to collect them, collecting them is what counts.
* Use TFTD to get Padfoot to appear.

For Task 2:
* After the TFTD queue only potions with short brew times. What counts here is the Master Notes gestures, so you can’t brew these in advance. You can, however, put off performing the gesture for things still in your cauldron.
* Werewolves will be boosted with TFTD.
* It’s okay to visit the events registry page now. you can collect runestones by returning Brilliant Foundables, opening Portkeys from this event or from Part 1, or from fighting fortress battles with New Marauders BE Runestones.

For Task 3:
* Good luck. I’m hoping the “in a row” bit is incorrect.
* You’ll need TFTD.

For Task 4:
* Remember BBE boosts the XP, more fellow combatants in a Fortress boosts XP, higher Fortresses give more XP.
* Good luck again. At least they aren’t in a row.
* It varies if we get the note pieces from this event’s BE foundables or all Brilliant Foundables, so I can’t tell you in advance. Keep your eyes peeled to see.

From the look of it, we’ll get the registry entries for 2 items from finishing task 4. There’s a bonus round this time; whether it’s worth the energy consumption is up to you. It doesn’t appear to require us to place any images from the event, you’ll gain more EventXP (and thus runestones) by not doing so until the event is over.

I finished the adversaries challenge at the very end. It would be nice if we could have a bit of down time between these events! I need to get out to find potions ingredients and brew.

They’re trying to find the balance that makes both the more aggressive and the casual players happy. Eh. (Made more complicated by people having difficulty skipping things. lol) But the idea is you can sit the Adversary Events out without leaving your registry incomplete. Unlike Brilliant Events, they’re goals to work towards that don’t give you much more than if you leave them unfinished. So to get the primary benefits, you collect your freebies and brew at the accelerated rate and you can do as many or as few Adversary Chains as you like / need. Usually I concentrate on brewing during the events. This time I had a goal I wanted to accomplish, and took on as many ACs as I comfortably could. (Noped out of most Narcissas, for example, because those chew potions like nuts for very little extra benefit, and I ran out of Health Potions.)

Totally AGREE MTS!!! I Did Not finish, I'm WAY too low on the totem pole (plus I don't think I'm very good at this game, sigh) to even win a SINGLE adversary thing yet... Really hate giving Draco a chance to gloat ya know. grrrrrr. Finished Part I of this event, barely, but didn't even Know this one started, THANK YOU to my awesome gingerbred sister!!!

Honey, you weren’t supposed to finish the Adversary event. That’s why they don’t give you meaningful (in the game) prizes for doing so. It lets you get as much out of the event as you can without forcing you to overreach. (I often sit them out.) If you pick up your freebies, brew a whole bunch at the accelerated times, and just fight the lowest foe or two on the adversary chain (Draco’s chain, for example, is kind of cushy; Narcissa is an absolute ‘nope’) you’ll still work your way towards those DADA texts via your registry. And you really don’t need them when you’re starting out. It’s supposed to be a marathon and not a sprint.

If you can finish this event, you won’t even have to worry about getting portkeys because it gives you all five fragments as the reward for task 4. (That said, I just got a couple of Erumpet horns from part 1’s portkeys...) BE portkeys, in addition to having a guaranteed distance, reward you with better prizes than the 1K and usually the 2.5K ones do.

My game keeps freezing up. I managed to get in to get my freebies. I went almost 3 months without being able to get freebies or buy things, and it put me off so badly. I just want to throw things at Niantic.

I’m so sorry to hear it. I know a bunch of people were affected by that. But I definitely get it. The server crash had me fuming retroactively. That’s almost funny, because I was so pleased with how well I took it (shit happens, right?), right up until I sat down to play the next evening and the event was over. (It didn’t help that they were on DST and we weren’t. It was just a universal cock up for me.) Augh. Grr. lol

That said, it has me out there cycling to collect the energy I need and a good selection of gifts, and I enjoy that. I’d definitely do less of it without it.
