Part Two of Fighting Forces Brilliant Event

...starts Tuesday 22 October at 11:00 PDT / 18:00 GMT Pacific time, and will run through 29 October, 11:00 PDT / 18:00 GMT. What time is that where you are? Here is some info to help you prepare. (As always, if you find this spoilery, please give this post a pass.)

Part Two: Event Registry Page



Brilliant Portkeys for this event will once again be 3km. Part One Portkeys will give you Part One rewards anytime you open them, even if you wait to open them during Part Two, so be sure to pick up the ones you need for this event to complete your registry pages. PSA: The Brilliant Portkeys now glow purple on the map. You need at least five to get your Portrait of Phineas Nigellus Black completed.

Use your Tonic for Trace detection to increase your chances of seeing Oddities. And Part One Brilliant Encounters will still be popping up on the Map during Part Two, so you have another crack at filling those incomplete registries.

During this Brilliant Event, they will again be reducing brew times for all Exstimulo Potions and the Health Potion by 25%. Make sure to have your Potions queue cleared to ensure that you see the reduction in Potion Brew Time. (Similarly, I expect potions queued during the event to to still have reduced brewing times once it's over.) Also, the first task requires you to brew six potions. You can brew potions in advance (up to four in the regular cauldron, eight if you are using the rental) and not pick them up until the event begins to get a jump on this task. Alternately, queuing the Regular Exstimulo and Health Potions is the fastest / cheapest way of getting this done.

Event Tasks

As in the past, completing the tasks / quests will earn you 15 Restricted Section Books (green books). New to Fighting Forces, you will also earn Spell Books (red books), 4 of them this time, which is lovely and just makes my little heart go potter pitter pat. And once again, they're 'paying out' more RSBs earlier in the overall quest. (So if you don't finish, you'll still have something nice to show for having tried.) This is the breakdown of what you'll need to do when so you can plan accordingly. I'm following it up with a few cherry picked items...

Brutally, they're requiring us to unlock a total of SIX Portkeys during this event (2 for task 2, and 4 for task 4), while giving us only one silver key, and requiring us to pick up at least five 3 K Portkeys in order to complete the registry. As there's no way of knowing with the other Portkeys if you're picking up a 10, 5 or 2 K, the safest bet will be to shoot for the 3 K ones. If you're using just the gold key for those, that's a lot of kilometres to walk. Or, uh, cruise parking lots... lol

And you'll need two Tonics for Trace Detection in Task Three, so keep your eyes peeled for Erumpet horns. (I've had excellent luck returning to the spawn point 10-15 minutes later to find a second horn, so give that a try.)

Yeah it sucks. But I have some gold hoarded in case I need more silver keys.

Really well. Finished on Monday (somehow thought I had one more task to go?). Still have to open all the portkeys though.

Also that missing piece from a previous event magically appeared with a 2k portkeys. Like wtf?

Oh I love it when things make zero sense at all. 😐 Still, glad you got the page completed. That would have really bugged you otherwise.

Yeah, we just got 40 gold, I think it was, and they're giving us 50 if we complete task 4, so... (and there's another 50 in the daily rewards calendar next week...)

I had a Portkey barf on me today, and then it seemed to have showed up unlocked in my inventory again, and then before I could do anything about it, it was gone, but the fragment of Ollivander appeared in the Registry, so I assume whatever else it had I got as well. Can't say that made much sense either. (Battery issues, never open one on low power.) Still missing an Ollivander, but I hope to have him finished in another 1.5 K and I didn't even use any silver keys. (Which is good, because I think I'll need them next week... lol)

Definitely. Hell it still bugs me it took me so long to figure shit out and not managed the first two registry event pages.

I pay a bit of gold to buy ingredients but I haven't bought anything else in a while.

Yeah I think mine did something weird like that. So strange. I need to work on getting some of them unlocked, buuuuut maybe I should wait til next week?

Getting thosw 15 great spell casts is killing me

Keep at it, you'll get it. This was the first and only time I think I was grateful to see Sirius, because he eats energy like nuts and I can actually do the swirl kind of alright. A couple of him and there I was, energy poor but done. (Other than that, I was pretty salty because of the oddities issue.)

I think the first post I did in this comm had a link to a practice page for the spells, sometimes it helps to know which ones you're better at and concentrate your energy on them. wait... here it is:

Still waiting for two more death eaters, and then I'm done. If the weather holds tomorrow, I'll probably go for a bike ride and take advantage of the Trace tonic's boost in effectiveness. (I so want a Fluffy... 😊)

Oh! And the portkeys were generous, so that was nice. Between them and the map, I now have 15 horns. I'll start brewing post event. (Right now I'm running exstimulos 24/7) I figure sooner or later they'll boost the Tonic's effectiveness again.

I opened a bunch of Portkeys today and I agree, they were generous with the horns. I'm just trying to get the last five greats tomorrow. I'd like to see about the extra stuff.

Seriously, follow the link above, click new glyph until you get the swirl, and practice it. I got 5 great or masterfuls on one Sirius alone (who probably fled with my luck... but that doesn't matter). You're still encountering a lot of them, so if you have that cast down, it'll really help. Most of the casts I made that qualified came from that one spell and Sirius.
