Potter's Calamity (I & II) things to know....

As with the last Brilliant Event, OrangeWizard2019 has put together infographics of the Potter's Calamity (I & II) Brilliant Event tasks and bonus rewards that might change your approach to the events. Plus there's (very general) info on where to find the things from the Registry page. Planning ahead will simplify things, but that means knowing what's coming. If you consider that spoilery, please give this post a pass.

Once again, there are at least fifteen Restricted Section Books to be had in each event, indications are it will be limited to those fifteen each, and those are *all* to be had *only* by completing the tasks. Be smart about how you spend them. (There's a marvellous tool on gamepress to figure out which path you'd like to take with your lessons and how you'd like to spend your 'spoils', scrolls and books. (Auror, Magizoologist, Professor) You can experiment and see what difference each lesson would make in your skills.)

The two Events will feature different tasks and Brilliant Registry Pages. And (it seems) once again, no nicely designed badge (no, no, of course not), just more stupid doohickeys for the Ministry ID foto I'm not using anyway... lol 😉

Week 1: July 16 – July 23

• Harry’s Weasley Jumper (through Wizarding Challenges)
• Brilliant Hedwig (in the Wild)
• Harry’s School Trunk (through 7km Event Portkeys)
• Mismatched Socks (through Tasks)
• Harry’s Triwizard Cup Uniform (through Tasks)
• Brilliant Quidditch Captain Harry (in the Wild)


Week 2: July 30 – August 6

• DMLE Badge (through Tasks)
• London Five Photograph (through Tasks)
• Framed Family Photo (Ginny, Albus, James, Lily) (through Tasks)
• Hogwarts Heroes Daily Prophet (through Wizarding Challenges)
• Brilliant Golden Snitch (in the Wild)
• Harry’s Ministry ID Card (through 7km Event Portkeys)


Brilliant Events DO NOT return, so if you want to complete those registry pages, it's a one shot and you'll need to get cracking.


And as I've posted before, there's a bug for the 7K Portkeys atm. If possible, try to complete and *use* them during the event. Otherwise, wait until the next event to use them, but you'll get Fragments from the new event, not the last one. (Source: Fazes on reddit, according to whom JIBS has that detail *wrong*.)

Oh thats good to know. I have a 7k one left. used the other one to get that last snargleuff. I'm also hoarding my silver keys.

Noy that this thing tracks my distance hardly at all, nooooooo.

I think I (so brilliantly) have 0 silver keys right now, and don't want to pay their prices. Those four portkeys at the end are going to be very difficult for me... I very barely made it the last time. (On the other hand, saving up the keys means I have too many portkeys lying around, because you can't drop them. If they announce things far enough in advance, at least I know not to pick up any more... (Hence the post. Maybe it will help someone else.))

You can leave the game on, but turn the phone upside down, and it reverts to a black *SOS* screen which should save some energy (not to mention the screen itself), so at least there's that. But I totally agree, if you're going to have distance walked be integral to your gameplay, the sync should have been there from the outset. boo.

See my issue is I work in a low signal area. Adventure sync in Pogo works well, but gps is shit both here and when I have been in better signal. It jumps me around everywhere. Even when I walk through the plant with the game open, it doesn't usually track it. The reason I didn't finish the last one even though I walked over 2miles that day was purely it didn't track me.
