Surprise Mini-Events!

There are two mini events this week, sort of out of left field, presumably because they really are serious about it being a test of a new game mechanic. Fingers crossed.

The ever lovely Orangewizard has once again made an infographic:

Both events take place only for seven hours, from 11 am to 6 pm LOCAL TIME. (I assume they're being US centric in their thinking again, because the rest of the world definitely doesn't have these days off, and that's smack in the middle of most people's work- / school day.) Still, it's nice that any advantage (or disadvantages) the event might provide are being shared across the globe. On the plus side, there are no tasks, and nothing for your event registries, so there is no pressure to take part in these events. If you happen to need some of the fragments they can get you, this is a good way to go about getting them, assuming you have TFTD and / or energy to spare. (I don't really for either. Keep in mind there's a Wizarding Weekend coming up this weekend, and a Brilliant Event starting next Tuesday, so it might be wiser to not use all your resources at once.)

Wednesday's event greatly increases the number of spawns we'll see from a single TFTD (I just tested it and can confirm that), and puts the emphasis on specific Foundables. It's a real pity they aren't being more generous with energy on the map, or Exstimulo ingredients, for that matter. It makes it very difficult for people in lockdown to take part in events, especially without prior notice. (Plus it's straight up annoying how much easier (and more fun) the game is if you only lived or worked somewhere else. Very strange choice in game design there. I keep hoping they're running a social experiment under the guise of a game, because it's the only justification I can see for some of those choices.)

Thursday's event will drive people into the Fortresses for guaranteed Foundable Fragments. Unfortunately it's concentrated on three Chambers, Tower, Forest and Dark V, and that Dark V is usually a real problem with people getting in far over their heads. Worth noting, if the moochers and the noobs get too annoying, this should help drum up some traffic on the Knight Bus in general, and playing any Chamber other than a V should now have more people looking to do, and simultaneously fewer of the the folks you'd rather avoid.

Here's the catch, though. This is a local time event. In the past, Fortress bonuses have only worked properly if someone in the right timezone enters the Fortress chamber first, and of course we have no way of telling who is in what time zone. Hmm. If the bug persists, the only way to be sure get the benefit is to be first in the chamber as long as your time zone is active. Likewise to not be first in the chamber when your time zone is inactive increases your chances of getting the reward. But once again, that's only if the bug hasn't been fixed. (And frankly as they haven't said it is, I wouldn't count on it, but then again, maybe that's what they're testing.)
